Welcome
My name is Ross Maryan, Principal of New Horizons School welcome to our website. We are very proud of our wonderful school and we hope this website gives you an insight into what we do for our young people.
We are a Special School that supports pupils with an EHCP with a primary need of SEMH. The school is located in St Leonards on Sea.
New Horizons is an outstanding special school that makes provision for children and young people with social, emotional & mental health needs (SEMH) from Key Stage 1 to 4. New Horizons is a unique school to be part of; we are committed to ensuring that each child can access the highest possible standard of education and be supported to better manage their behaviour, emotional and mental health needs.
Our vision is to create a warm, caring, stable supportive environment in which all pupils and staff feel safe. By creating an engaging and challenging learning environment, we aim to develop the multitude of skills and talents that our young people have to enable them to become independent, resilient and self-motivated, taking pride in their achievements and their educational journey.
At the centre of this is our curriculum we are always striving to enhance the learning of the individual, with a curriculum that builds relationships through a warm, caring, stable and supportive environment. We encourage young people to be in the right place, at the right time and ready to learn. From this beginning, young people are able to thrive and achieve much more than they ever thought possible.
Our leadership team and staff share a passion to ensure that your children have the capacity to lead successful lives. We have high aspirations for all our pupils. We have created a community where everyone is committed to ensuring the best outcomes for pupils, many of whom have had negative experiences of education in their previous schools.
