Curriculum
The Workplace curriculum is vocationally driven whilst ensuring students receive a broad and balanced offer. The curriculum has been developed in partnership with local employers and Further Education providers to ensure students benefit from nationally recognised qualifications and experiences which will give them the skills, knowledge and behaviours to thrive in Further Education, Apprenticeships and work.
Students study a range of nationally recognised (Attainment 8) qualifications. Expected qualification outcomes will be dependent on the duration of the placement at The Workplace but the following indicative example demonstrated expected qualification outcomes for 1 and 2 year placements:
1 year KS4 programme:
- GCSE English Language
- GCSE Maths
- Technical Award (in Vocational area of choice)
- Technical Award in Enterprise
2 year KS4 programme:
- GCSE English Language
- GCSE English Literature
- GCSE Maths
- GCSE Science (Double Award)
- Technical Award (in Vocational area of choice)
- Technical Award (in Vocational area of choice)
- Technical Award in Enterprise
Expected work place practices are be embedded wherever possible and students learn the language and etiquette of the working world. Students benefit from regular enterprise and preparation for work activities, work experience (where appropriate) and high quality impartial careers education, advice and guidance provided by the Youth Employability Service to support them identify a suitable post 16 destination.

Please note: During the Covid-19 pandemic remote education was provided to students via the Microsoft Teams platform. This will be utilised again in future if school closure occur and more details on the live offer will be provided.
